Japanese cars hold their popularity with Mauritian drivers…

This is revealed in the statistics for the sales of new cars on the Mauritian market… Suzuki, Toyota and Nissan have maintained their top position in sales for the month of July 2022.

 What the numbers say…

The National Land Transport Authority (NTLA) statistics show that out of a total of 865 new cars sold during the month of July, the largest market share was accounted for by Suzuki with 295 units sold. Toyota and Nissan sold 94 and 46 units respectively. The preference of Mauritian car owners for Suzuki holds steady month after month.

European cars are at a standstill

The two Korean brands, Hyundai and Kia, are close behind the Japanese with 68 and 62 units sold over the same period. On the other hand, the sale of European cars seems to be stagnating with Renault 30, MG and Volvo 13, Citroën 11, while Ford and Jeep appear to be the lowest with only one car sold each.

BMW is the best-selling luxury car with 44 units, followed by Mercedes and Audi with 34 and 18 respectively.

Furthermore, during the same period, 110 4×4 units were sold, of which Nissan 37, Mitsubishi 23, Mazda 15, Ford 9, and Peugeot and GWM 8 each. It should be noted that no buses or dual-purpose vehicles were sold, while 44 trucks and 15 vans were purchased out of a total of 1,059 vehicles sold during July.
