Traffic diversions at Ebène called off at the eleventh hour

Traffic diversions, initially planned on the M1 motorway as from Monday 26 September have been cancelled until further notice. These deviations were deemed necessary in the wake of works that were to be undertaken along the M1 motorway in the Ebène region, near the Mattar Bridge. These works were aimed at constructing a Saint-Pierre Bypass/Ébène Link Road.

That part of the M1 motorway was meant to be closed to traffic between 10 pm and 5 am for a period of two months when works were expected to be completed. However, the Ministry of Land Transport and Light Rail has, for reasons so far unspecified, reviewed its decision in the morning of Monday 26 September.

According to the initial plan, southbound-northbound traffic was to be diverted onto Ebène and Réduit and then back onto the M1 near Bagatelle, while northbound-southbound traffic was to be redirected to Réduit and Ebène, then back to the M1 motorway at Trianon.

All necessary measures were already put in place in view of the new proposed diversions when the decision to call off the works was taken, almost at the eleventh hour.
