We are only at the beginning of 2021, but with recent achievements and upcoming plans for the year ahead, our car insurance partner, Quantum has a lot in store for you. Devesh Biltoo, Chief Executive Officer, tells us more about it!

A year ago, the lockdown was announced. How has COVID-19 affected your business?

While the pandemic caught the world unaware in 2020, the onset of the lockdown has highlighted a series of new social changes, leading consumers to rush to digital platforms for their purchase. As a digitalised insurance company, we were able to cope easily to ensure that we meet our obligation towards our customers. Our digitalised business model has gained more traction in line with our communication and sales strategy, leading to a business growth objective of 30% in our portfolio for the year ending 2020.

How have the projects implemented in 2020 been progressing?

Since the world changed in 2020, and as an attentive insurer, we did so as well. We had initiated and implemented some specific projects that have allowed us, in an unprecedented economic condition, to align our digitalised offering of insurance in matching the needs of our clients. To remain fair and assist where we can, we decided to give back up to a maximum of Rs 1,000 of car insurance to all our policyholders renewing their insurance online… The ‘renew & refund’ offer will last until July 2021.

Furthermore, as our business model of offering digitalised insurance services goes in the same streak to the concept of paperless and ‘go-green’ environmental actions, we have deepened our partnership with the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation (MWLF) by donating Rs. 5 for every online  transaction made.

We also offered an endemic plant of the ‘Bois Mapou’ for every new home insurance policy bought through us, in line with our Wildlife Species Champion campaign.

Tell us more about your plans for 2021.

2021 marks a new beginning for us. On the 11th of January, we have relocated to a brand new office in Ébène’s Hyvec Business Park. We plan to pursue our actions of promoting our digitalised model of business, with the objective of putting society –as well as the environmental cause –at the centre of our focus.

We are currently working on some projects that will further consolidate our positioning in developing further those actions… Watch the space!
